He does occupy my thoughts often. I am a 74-year-old retired Navy Commander. I consider myself a patriot. I am well educated and have a lot of experience in the legislative process at the state level, and I have been a Democratic political junkie all my life. One of my early memories is watching my Dad's good friend, Adlai Stevenson, accept the Democratic nomination on one of those little round black and white TV's. I have a kid brother who is a Republican, and we have had spirited but respectful discussions. I have never HATED the GOP. I have seen well-meaning elected representatives from both sides come together and create compromise. I know that compromise and collaboration work. I WANT to return to a time when that was the rule and not the exception. Having said all that, I will HONESTLY say that I truly believe that Donald Trump is an existential threat to the history of our wonderful country that I gave the majority of my adult life serving. You may disagree with that conclusion, but you ought not to question my integrity or my sincerity in reaching it.
