Half of Americans do not vote, so when they respond to polls they are making up answers. Even if they say they are going to vote, there is little reason to believe them. I don’t know who still has a landline, or who answers an unknown phone call on a cell phone, but I question if these folk represent broader America.
The second aspect of this discussion is even more fascinating to me than merely being data ignorant: Why don’t people say I DON’T KNOW when they, in fact, do not know?
As an example, we discussed whether COVID-19 escaped from a Lab or was transmitted in a Wet Market. I argued that there is but one acceptable answer to this question: “As someone who is neither a virologist nor an intelligence operative, I do not have the tools needed to render an expert judgment about the origins of Covid.”
And yet polls are how our resident slack jaws can be certain that the data is "lying".....
If you are looking for eternal verities they're found in adjectives, like "yuge" and the all encompassing superlative "the world has ever seen, believe me". On such bedrock is the MAGA faith anchored.
We need to restore populations of giant moron eating birds of prey...
