I agree with the OP. We enjoyed about three decades of prosperity for all. It wasn't until the early 80s when two parents had to go to work. However, greatness is subjective. Some people may feel that a nation with the greatest education system is the greatest country on Earth. Or with the greatest healthcare system. It depends on the metric.
