The non-union working class - basically, hayseed yahoos from impoverished "right to work" states - have always been the ungrateful recipients of unions' hard work. Trump's populism brought the hayseeds into a posture they had never before experienced. They are rejecting globalism, finally. They are embracing the Protectionism that was once the Democrat Party's claim to dignity. The script has flipped in the era of Trump, and the unions' rank and file have become the dummies who unwittingly support globalism and reject protectionism. But that is shifting in this election - and the Teamsters' national authority refusing to back the blue is proof.
