This is a logical fallacy. The absence of proof does not conclude to a negation of the hypothesis. 

For example, at this time, we have no concrete proof that life exists outside of Earth. That doesn't mean that life doesn't exist outside of Earth. All it means is that we haven't found evidence of it...yet. There could be some small bacteria somewhere in some distant galaxy.
