Consumer expectations have certainly risen, that's for sure. But autos have also gotten better. They go 300-plus thousand miles instead of being junk at 100k. They are safer, smoother, altogether better - and they still cost the same amount in 2024 as they did in 1960s: about one year's pay. If you make 18k, there's a car for you. If you make 24k, there is a car for you. If you make 30k, there is a car for you. If you make 70k, there is a car for you. If you make a hundred k, you get two cars. Good on ya, mate!
