I had a 283 with a Crane "Fireball Cam" and a Holley 600 in a 2500 pound Model A coupe that was a  good running combo.
plenty o' power...
Those and the 327 were bulletproof...great engines...

I had a '63 biscayne with a .030 over 327 and 3/4 race cam....the car originally had a 6 cyl, 3 on the tree and prolly a 3.00 gears...it was fun...
