Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas admitted that the agency has spent more than $640 million in fiscal year 2024 on noncitizens, leaving little left for Americans suffering in the aftermath of the storm.
Many conservatives are outraged that the administration’s spending on noncitizens has left the agency unable to fully support American disaster victims. “This is the result of a failed immigration policy that prioritizes noncitizens over American families,” said Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL). Critics argue that FEMA’s resources are being drained by Biden’s open-border policies, leaving U.S. citizens to suffer after major disasters.
