The FBI has typically reported more crime for NYC from 2001 to 20021, because the FBI uses its own definitions, not NYC's. In '21, there was no data because the FBI arbitrarily and without warning or matching funding switched systems and just waited for the states and cities to catch up. Last year, instead of applying its usual metrics and inflating NYC's crime stats to match its definitions, the FBI assigned significantly LESS crime to NYC than what NYC reported. This creates a double whammy of apparent crime drop.
The FBI's crime stats are entirely unreliable - like everything else agencies of HS touch. Every agency of the entire homeland security department is on record lying to congress and to the American people. Russia stole the election. The Biden laptop is a fake. The vaccine stops covid in its tracks. Iraq had WMDs. Etc.
