The amount of fuel a supertanker uses depends on its size and speed, but here's some related information about fuel consumption for ships:
Container ships: A container ship can use over 84,200 gallons of fuel per day, which is the equivalent of almost 6,500 car gas tanks. The amount of fuel a container ship uses is mostly a function of its size and speed. For example, an 8,000 TEU containership uses about 225 tons of fuel per day at 24 knots, but only 150 tons per day at 21 knots.

Large ships: A large ship can use up to 250 tons of fuel per day, which is equivalent to over 80,000 gallons.

Regular-sized ships: A regular-sized ship can use up to 150 tons of fuel per day.

The Emma Mærsk: This container ship uses about 16 tons of fuel per hour, or 380 tons per day.

The CMA CGM Benjamin Franklin: This ultra-large container ship carries about 4.5 million gallons of fuel oil.

Panamax ships: These ships can generally hold up to 5,000 TEUs and typically hold between 1.5 million and 2 million gallons of fuel.

Post-Panamax or New Panamax ships: These ships can carry between 2.5 million and 3.5 million gallons of fuel.

Ships use waste oil, which is the leftover material after the crude oil refining process. This fuel is the cheapest and most polluting fuel available.
Ships use diesel #6...or coal tar...

the good news tho, is joe will mandate electric ships before he sails out to sea in Jan... :die:
