Where does the US get most of its maple syrup?
The leading maple syrup-producing states include
Vermont, New York, Maine, and Wisconsin. These states benefit from a combination of ideal climate conditions, abundant sugar maple trees, and a rich tradition of maple sugaring.
Is Canadian or Vermont maple syrup better?
There is actually no difference in maple syrup despite marketing attempts that tell you otherwise. All the sap comes from maple trees in the northern climates and there are strict grading requirements for syrup
So, as you can see.....
America doesn't need Canadian maple syrup due to several states producing the exact same product....

nada exports maple syrup to the United States, and the US is the largest importer of Canadian maple products:
- Export volume
In 2023, Canada exported 64.9 million kilograms (10.8 million gallons) of maple syrup, with 62.1% of that going to the US
