When Social Security started in 1930s life expectancy at that time was 60/70 years.
Basically people would age out and apply 4 benefits and litterally die like afew years later.
At that time something like 15/20 workers payroll taxes supported 1 retiree.
Today its like 3 or 4 workers and "Solvency" of the program is gonna come up again sooner than later.
But Social Security & Medicare are also the 3rd rail in politics even "Conservatives" wont cut them because all the Old folks would vote em outta office too.
So I think what that we really need 2 do is figure out how 2 refinance the programs.
Take Inflation into account we need to raise the Social Security Income Tax to about Half a Million Dollars keep fresh fudns rolling in
We should also "Means Test" if ya wealthy ya dont need Social Security & Medicare .
