So I totally expect Russia to invade Ukraine.

What it means is that many so-called "American" Trump loving, reich winged Putin supporters, defenders, and apologists, identify more with Russians than with their fellow Americans, ESPECIALLY Americans who are non white. Hell, many of them don't even CONSIDER minorities, Americans. McConnell made that clear himself when he juxtaposed Black voters with "Americans."
They identify racially to Russians, and also, increasingly, ideologically in their endorsement of authoritarian government. Hence why fkrs like Carlson push Putin/Kremlin talking points, and so-called "patriots" say and do stupid **** - like that petition they drummed up in Alaska awhile back seeking to become a part of Russia.
And none of this is by accident. Fact is, Putin deliberately appealed to the racial white nationalistic sentiments that had long festered, only slightly disguised under what before was dog whistle rhetoric, within the right. A deliberate plan (like all despots) to divide and conquer via the use of fear and HATE.
And Trump's rise to power, Russia's involvement in the 2016 (and subsequent elections), Trump's close ties to Russia and subservience to Putin in particular, even to the point of discrediting America's own intelligence and military were the culmination of that PLAN. Again, NONE of it occurring by accident.
So the point being MADE is HOW do America's Putin loving TROLLS and reich wingers who'd "rather be Russian than Democrat" reconcile the fact the Russia is moving on the Ukraine, another country supposedly of like "kinship"?? How will they spin THAT?
The reason why Putin can make war on the Ukraine resulting in the mass casualties and destabilization of "kindred" spirits is really quite simple. It is what he LONG wanted to do. Re-establish the USSR. Racial kinship doesn't mean jack ****, no more than it did for Hitler. Nor would it if Putin thought he could nuke America and get away with it - "rather be Russians" and all.
It's about POWER and CONTROL. And despots and authoritarians do whatever it takes to ensure they MAINTAIN it, even if they have to wipe out their own - in an act of war, or via lies, obstruction, obfuscation, and incitements.
Like those that result in the unnecessary deaths of HUNDREDS of thousands from a killer virus - deaths of people who, in the eyes of their "fuehrers," are expendable... ready and willing to die on behalf of the lies they are fed.
