Danmark spends 500 million per year on various welfare programs there. That comes to Ten thousand per citizen.
This is why they have never exercised the sovereignty option.
But I believe they will exercise that option, if the bribe is big enough. And then the swamp's NGOs will pack up and go to their next assignment, allowing American companies to do the mining and drilling that Danish companies were disallowed from doing.
