Go ask them. I don't give a **** about convincing you of anything. I've watched and read plenty to see that preserving the lives of children and hostages is something they try to do - to their detriment. But, ultimately, they have a war to fight and win. It would have been easy enough for Israel to have gone into Gaza with a scorched earth campaign leaving no human alive and no building standing. As far as I'm concerned, that's exactly what they should have done.
