Israel has kept the civilian casualties to about one-third that of the US-Afghan war. And, that's after Palestinians launched tens-of-thousands of missile strikes inside of Israel. I can assure you, if Afghanistan somehow launched thousands of missile strikes on the US, we would have simply nuked Afghanistan and likely Pakistan too.
They got killed, but not intentionally. The airstrikes were called in after they thought the buildings were clear of civilians. They didn't strike them deliberately.
