It is a fantasy based not on fact, but upon fiction, and you are using it to bolster your assumptions about evolution and the binary gender model. It's not that your conclusion is wrong, it's simply that there is no alien life form which anyone on this planet of ours has ever encountered. Any alien life form which would be within our reach of observation would be extremely simple and could be non-carbon based and non-gender based.
For advanced life, such as any animal and plant life we encounter on Earth to evolve, there must be phosphorous. Phosphorous is a relatively heavier element which can only be produced by extremely rare stellar events involving 3rd generation stars. For that matter, same goes for most heavy elements, but only Phosphorous is necessary for the production of all energy in 95% of plant and 100% of animal life on Earth.
