Funny story. I'm on the way back from a hell gig with some comics. The conversation meanders into the metaphysical, and I allow that I believe in the immortal soul. One of the comics starts giving me an enormous ration is **** - just really scorning me for my provincial notions. I let him run his mouth a bit, then I question him at length. And he gives me every assurance that he is one hundred percent certain that there is no such thing as a soul - that only fools who fear death believe in such. After I have caused him to adamantly insist that there is no soul and that anyone who believes there IS a soul is an idiot deserving of scorn, I pull out a c-note and offer it to him in exchange for HIS soul. He demands to know what I want with it. I explain to him that I am a collector, and that I want his soul and am willing to pay coin of the realm for it. He asks how the transfer might take place, and I tell him I have a simple form for him to sign, which I would print off on my computer when we got back. He inquires why I would possess such a form at the ready, and I inform him that his will not be the first soul that I have purchased. He gets this look of horror, and he refuses to sell me his soul.
Given his previous scorn and superiority - witnessed by (and annoying to) all, - he had a very long ride back to civilization. We dogged him n proportion to his previous condescension - in proportion to our annoyance with his high-handed ways. All the way home, we scorned him for a bluffer who indeed believed in the soul. I still LMAO about that. Of COURSE, I had no such form at the ready. I had never been verbally assaulted before that, for believing in the soul.
