Alright Veghead, setting aside your usual insults and dramatic flair, you’ve claimed that a future recession will be “self-inflicted” due to three Trump-era policies: shrinking the federal government, implementing broad tariffs, and deporting workers. Can you explain, in your own words, how each of these policies directly leads to economic contraction? The US economy is plodding toward a recession, a result of the Trump administration’s pursuit of three contractionary policies in tandem: Reducing the size of the federal government; instituting broad tariffs; and deporting workers. Unless these policies that shrink the economy are abandoned, a recession is all but guaranteed.
Recessions happen. We have suffered 13 since World War II. They all hit familiar beats. Jobs will be eliminated, hiring will slow and unemployment will rise. Also, businesses will shutter, workers will give up on the labor market and wage growth will be anemic. And when a recovery begins, it can take years for the economy to fully heal.
Still, each recession is unique. The constant evolution of the economy means that the conditions surrounding a recession and recovery are never identical. With that in mind, it’s worth taking stock of what will make the coming downturn different.
To start, this will arguably be the only recession directly caused by White House policy

A large swath of Americans, being innumerate and disposed to opining on matters about which they know nothing, mewled about circumstances which were the envy of the balance of the world. Elon Musk spent nearly 300 million to rally social marginalia and drive it to vote in numbers sufficient to put Worse than Buchanan back in the WH....but this time supported by an administration generously sprinkled with FOXwhores and other salad tossers.
Who could possibly have guessed that Bubble Boy, unleashed by SCOTUS' cretinous immunity determination and cheered by a cabinet of how-highs, would promptly soil the carpet and drive the economy into the canal?
