too bad so much is lost so fast...in just a couple of generations family history and traditions fall by the wayside
it's why we used to live in the "melting pot"...which is why people became "Americans"...
First generation learn enough to meld...while second generation are thrust into it, but obviously retain some...third generation it dies on the vine and becomes folklore...
it is sad...I truly believe areas like the Burroughs in NYC hung on to their cultural roots way longer due to the strength in their numbers in neighborhoods....
