Just a small town beautiful scenery but could not build the road thru town resisted fought tooth and nails and sued, and sued in court.
Eventually 1991/1992 a compromise was made.
For such a tiny town its very odd see a giant "Flyover" freeway bridge around like a big city but that was the final completion of Interstate 90 from Boston to Seattle as a complete "Cross Country" Route
