That's where such mind blowing genius had to be called on to design a device that would be pretty hard to troubleshoot if the first attempts didn't live up to the expected output.
I have never heard how many trial runs it took to get the bomb designs finalized and "ready for issue".
Now Russia "possess" even more warheads and missles than we do.
But during the "Cold War" was an unwritten deal "Mutally Assured Destruction" none was ever fired off.
Afew "Close Calls" but no actuall Nuclear War neither
