How can one be "patriotic" in a country of immigrants with no racial identity? Do you know what the root of "patriotism" is? It is a familial term. It implies we are bonded by blood. We are currently abetting genocide in Palestine. How does patriotism - I mean REAL patriotism, not social heart-grabbing when a song gets played - arise within such a **** show? Do I have some shared relationship with *** in detroitlet? With the irish in hell's kitchen or the dagos in brooklyn? With the wasps in nantucket or the cajuns in lowsyanna or the rednecks in mississippi? What is our shared heritage? What is our blood bond? How do we share any patriotism?
