Like I said - it is BS. From your link, here is what will be DEDUCTED from your back pay:
- Wages earned from any job or self employment during reinstatement period
Here is what you must provide the DOD:
- Documentation showing wages from any jobs or self-employment during any year of the reinstatement period, including: all W-2s, tax return(s) (Form 1040s), pay stubs for the current year, and your spouse’s W-2s if filing taxes jointly (will be used for verification only)
So, unless you were just a lay-about slacker during your separation from the military, you'll get aught carry your aught divided by aught - which is aught.
Makes perfect sense. Let's say you were making 60 thousand a year when you were separated from the service. You were separated for 2 years. Within 2 months, (after separation) you are hired making 50 thousand a year. You take the offer to go back into the service making that 60 thousand +. Let's see.....60 thousand aught times 2 years is 120 thousand aughts...minus the 100 thousand aughts you have made, makes your new aught total...let's see....carry your aught, divide that aught, and yes...20 thousand aughts. So, you now get a 20 thousand aught bonus along with making 60+ thousand a year. And you have the greatest Commander-in-Chief ever in the history of the USA. It's a no brainer.
