I wonder what the pope really thought of trump
LOL! "the people". Jesus' people were the Jews, His people. He wasn't preaching to the Chinese, or the the Britons, or the Norsemen, and certainly not to the Romans. He was preaching from the Old Testament (much from the Book of Psalms). Most of what he said during in his Sermon on the Mount can also be found in the Old Testament.
