Economists' predictions aren't always accurate, especially when it comes to long-term forecasts. A study by the University of California, Berkeley, found that forecasters were only correct 23% of the time, despite expressing 53% confidence. Some economists have struggled to predict recessions accurately, with one study showing that only five recessions were predicted by a consensus of economists between 1992 and 2014.
