Huge lie there, Johnny. The various Indian tribes inhabited less than 1% of North American land. They had tiny villages and some were able to control a tiny bit of land around their village. When I say "village", I really mean encampment, because that's all it amounted to. Indians never claimed ownership to anything other than their encampments. Nearly all of the North American continent was wilderness. Unsettled, even by the Indians. So, the Native Americans didn't already "own the place".
