If you're looking for a mother **** on the evil side of history, look no farther than reagan. We don't have an evil that his policies did not give fertile soil. He was the first globalist, the first president to utter the words, "service economy," the first president to allow raw resources to be taken from our ports, the first president since Herbert Hoover to have a bank failure which could not be handled by the FDIC (which did not exist in Hoover's day), the first president caught using astrology, the first president to be a divorcee, and the first president to have a young boy sex scandal in the whitehouse. He launched the attack on the middle class which proceeds apace to this very hour. Up to Reagan, the middle class was big and getting bigger. During and after reagan, the Big Shrink was on.
And the soft-soap that there were more millionaires minted on his watch comes with two caveats:
1. Half of that was due to inflation - not opportunity, and
2. We do not measure a country's quality by the number of haves, but rather, by the number of have nots. And as much as the haves increased, by that same amount the have nots increased more than double. Most of the shrinkage of the middle class was not caused by upward movement, but by downward economic movement. In other words, he was a suckass president for workaday murkins.
