the other option is don't touch the glass of the lamp. paper towel keeps the oils of your hand off the bulb until set inside the headlight assembly. Also, anyone who has ever bought a headlight bulb from a Walmart or Autoparts store knows that they also sell latex gloves cheap . . . . if you don't already have them.
Now, I have changed a headlight bulb once without using rubber gloves. I used the auto parts store bag as a makeshift glove. Can be done, but not recommended.
