Yeah, I know, they are better. As long as I can get 300K miles out of the truck, I'm good. Its made to tow up to 12,000 lbs, so the transmission should be robust enough for what I need, and a little occasional towing. Try not to lead-foot it too much. The actual auto-trans's don't fail, its the stupid electronics for them that fail.
Electronic transmissions fail as often as non electronic ones. I worked transmissions from 1980 until a few years ago. The electronic components are the most reliable parts in them. What is mostly unreliable are the people who work on them. I can say I've mostly seen it all.
