Republicans hold a marginal 42.3% to 40.2% lead over Democrats on the 2026 Generic Ballot, with 6.4% choosing someone else and 11.1% undecided.
The gulf between those who say the country is headed in the right direction and those who say it’s off on the wrong track has widened slightly, but remains in single digits. Forty-one percent (41%) say the country is headed in the right direction, while 48.2% say it’s off on the wrong track and 10.8% are undecided. Overall, this notoriously negative gauge has demonstrated a positive trend under the second Trump Administration.
