My surface observation is that Trump tossed a criminal out, the court tried to block him, he used the other fella down there as a human shield, saying "Hey, this guy refuses to return the criminal I deported. HE is defying the judge; I'm not." Bada bing, bada boom, Trump has his way, AND he has plausible deniability.
That is my understanding. And in THAT understanding, this silliness about the guy having no power - or that there is some republican narrative that the guy has no power - is girl power.
