The assumption is that if the masses grow unhappy then there will be hell to pay. Seems legit, right? But it isn't and never was.
This is the mistake of Karl Marx and the communists, who figured something's got to give and the "proletariat" would rise up, etc.
They never do. Ever. Never once in recorded history has a populist revolution ever been successful.
Revolutions occur only due to the infighting among elites.
Waiting for the people to rise up is like waiting for a ship that never comes in.
Look at the elites, for discontent, ambition and infighting. This and only this produces change.
I wish that were not so. But that is reality.
Extreme socioeconomic imbalance. The stress on a lot of people trying to work multiple jobs, increase their work load/try to make more money to cover basic necessities and expenses (many already deep in debt), making cut after cut, doing without, going stir crazy, not getting proper nutrition or enough to eat/sleep and still not getting anywhere is eventually going to have a lot of people blowing their tops.
How this will materialize is anyone's guess. Some people might take out their boss or their family.
Some people might blow their own brains out or someone else's.
Domestic issues will spike, people will get more DUIs and wreck their vehicles. There will be increases in violent crime, assaults, robbery, murder, arson etc.
