That is some of the best subversion I've seen in a long **** time. That guy HAS to be gay. No straight man could pull off that level of subversiveness. And to add powdered sugar to the donut, the *** did it at liberty U - a place where being able to take a joke is even less likely than getting a poke. Uptight mother ****, those.
I once booked a one-nighter comedy show in Lynchburg. No one in town dared offer me a venue without promises that we would not make fun of jerry falwell. Of course, every act was going to be hitting falwell, on account of him being a local bigshot and an easy target (He for a published fact **** his mother in an outhouse once).. So the whole town was shut off to me. I found a Mickey-Gilley's style bar on the outskirts and the owner hated falwell.The damned thing seated a million people, and my production costs were next to nothing. I made a **** mint on that show.
The irony is, I had a crew of very solid open mic-ers that I was looking to give some road experience. As a person enters comedy, having some road stories is very important to them. As is getting a check, so they can tell themselves and whoever'll listen that they're a professional.
Like I say, they were solid.They had worked hard at their craft and they were ready to open shows - maybe feature at minor venues. So I rotated a roster of several strong openers/weak features doing maybe 15 minutes, and closed the show with my only touring professional - a solid feature act. But this is the best the sticks can expect, and people were quite happy with it.
