It wasn't one mistake. there were several encounters for a period of time. She new what she was doing at the time and believed she could get away with it being protected by the system she was in.

I'd be inclined to agree with you if she was in her late 20's early 30's.  Being only 21 or so, I have some sympathy for the woman. Sure, she should have known better. It was consensual. It was legal. And, if she really cared, she could have been more discrete.  A bad life decision that affected the rest of her life. Like being branded with a scarlet letter.
