Claims that a disproportionate number of mass shootings are perpetrated by transgender or gender-nonconforming people are false. While a handful of mass shootings have involved transgender or nonbinary assailants, the vast majority have been carried out by cisgender men
. Statistics show that transgender people are far more likely to be victims of violence than perpetrators. 
The list of shootings provided contains both truthful and false assertions about the perpetrators' gender identity:

• Denver shooter (2019): True. Alec McKinney, a transgender teen who identified as a male, was a perpetrator in the STEM School Highlands Ranch shooting. According to court documents, he targeted classmates who had mocked him for his gender identity.
• Aberdeen shooter (2018): True. Snochia Moseley, who killed three people at a Rite Aid distribution center, was identified by authorities as a transgender male. A friend told The Washington Post that Moseley had recently begun hormone therapy.
• Nashville shooter (2023): True. Audrey Hale, who killed six people at a Christian school, was a transgender man. Police and news reports confirmed Hale's gender identity, although reporting on the proper pronouns was initially inconsistent.
• Philadelphia shooter (2023): False. Kimbrady Carriker, the suspect in the July 2023 mass shooting, is not transgender. After the incident, officials from the Philadelphia District Attorney's office and police confirmed Carriker identifies as male. Speculation about Carriker's gender spread online, in part due to police using gender-neutral pronouns early in the investigation.
• Iowa shooter (2024): Unconfirmed. After the Perry High School shooting, Dylan Butler was identified as the perpetrator. While social media posts alleged a transgender or gender-fluid identity based on screenshots from social media accounts, authorities have not confirmed his gender identity.
• Uvalde shooter (2022): False. There is no evidence that the Uvalde school shooter, Salvador Ramos, was transgender. The claim was based on false rumors spread online after the attack.
• Colorado shooter (2022): Partially true. The perpetrator in the Club Q nightclub shooting, Anderson Lee Aldrich, identified as nonbinary according to their lawyers. It is important to note that while many nonbinary people identify as transgender, not all do.
• Minnesota shooter (2025): True. Robin Westman, a transgender woman, was identified as the perpetrator in the shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis. Westman had previously changed her legal name to reflect her gender identity.
