Sure did. Seltzer was right on the money, huh?

I missed his prediction. You must lib more than me.

Iowa holds regular state senate elections every two years for half of its 50 seats. In the most recent activity on December 30, 2025, a high-profile special election took place that successfully blocked a Republican supermajority in the chamber.
Recent Election Results (Special Election - Dec 2025)

• Winner: Democrat Renee Hardman won the District 16 seat with 71.4% of the vote.
• Significance: This victory prevented Republicans from reclaiming a two-thirds supermajority, which would have allowed them to confirm gubernatorial appointees and override vetoes without Democratic support.
• Historic Note: Hardman is the first Black woman ever elected to the Iowa Senate.
• Context: The seat was vacant following the October 2025 death of Democrat Claire Celsi.
