I don't doubt it. That doesn't change his past. It's almost impossible for me to say who is lying and who isn't. I have no idea. All we can do is try and piece together the meager facts that we have.
1. The lady in the interview was being interviewed by an investigator. Not a media journalist. 
2. She seemed genuine to me. Yes, that is extremely subjective. I agree. However, she just seemed genuine to me.
