best way to handle the old lady is to tell her this is man stuff....way over her head....but she can make you a sandwich as a participation prize

...and then when she gets upset, tell her to just calm down!
Or better yet, ask her if it's "that time of the month"!

But first, remove all the breakables from within her reach!
