Prompt : Explain Statistical Sampling to a 5 year old.
Imagine you have a giant bag of Goldfish crackers, and you want to know if they are all orange or if there are some green ones in there, too.
There are way too many to count, and you’re hungry! So, you just reach in and grab one small handful.
* If all the crackers in your hand are orange, you can guess that the whole bag is probably orange.
* If you find one green one in your hand, you know there must be more green ones hiding in the bag.
Statistical sampling is just taking that one little handful to figure out what’s inside the whole big bag without having to eat every single cracker first!
Do you want to try picking a "sample" of crayons or legos to see what colors we find?
