Prompt: Explain "Survivorship bias" to a dull 5 year old.

Imagine you have a big bucket of broken toy cars.
You look at the cars that are still zooming and say, "Wow! These cars are super strong! They never break!"

But you forgot about the cars at the bottom of the bucket that are missing wheels or have broken doors. Those cars are "gone," so you don't see them.Survivorship bias is when you only look at the "winners" (the cars that still work) and forget to look at the "losers" (the broken cars).

It’s like saying, "I don't need a helmet because I never fell off my bike!" You only say that because you haven't fallen yet. You're forgetting about the kids who did fall and aren't there to tell you to wear one!

Does that make sense, or should we look at your favorite toys to see which ones are the toughest?

To demonstrate that you now understand, post an example.
