1) The Department of Justice says that the FBI is carrying out a series of search warrants (22 to be exact) in Minnesota as part of an ongoing fraud investigation...“Today the FBI with federal, state and local law enforcement is involved in court-authorized law enforcement activity as part of an ongoing fraud investigation,” a Justice Department spokesperson said. However, A law enforcement source said this is not an immigration enforcement operation.
2) Additionally, in a separate case... Dozens of autism treatment centers registered in Minnesota are now under investigation by the state amid a new crackdown to root out fraud, 5 INVESTIGATES has learned. Minnesota’s autism program, overseen by the state Department of Human Services (DHS), pays out Medicaid claims to clinics and organizations that provide early intervention treatment to kids diagnosed with autism. “It strikes me to my core that people are stealing from the program,” said Shireen Gandhi, the temporary commissioner of DHS.
