Yes, inflation in 2024 was under 3%. Because that’s how inflation works....it measures the rate of increase, not the price level. The price level was already sky‑high from the 2021–2023 spike, the one your own graphs show. Once prices jump, they don’t go back down just because the rate slows. If your duplex rent goes from $1,000 to $1,400, and then only rises to $1,430 the next year, the inflation rate is low....but your rent is still $1,430. So bragging about ‘under 3%’ after a historic spike is like bragging your house stopped burning after it already burned down. Go ask your ex, she will understand.
