Oregon voters just defeated one major statewide tax package alongside 24 local tax measures in the May 2026 primary election.
The Statewide Defeat
Voters overwhelmingly rejected Measure 120, a massive transportation funding package. More than 80% of voters shot down the measure. It would have raised taxes and fees in three distinct ways:Gas Tax: A 6-cent hike per gallon.Payroll Tax: Doubling the transit payroll tax from 0.1% to 0.2%.DMV Fees: Massive hikes to vehicle registration and title fees.
Local Tax Defeats
Out of 66 local tax measures on the ballot across the state, 24 local tax measures were defeated. These failed measures left several school districts, public safety departments, and local parks systems with funding gaps.
This is the part democrats can’t understand…how about just spending less?
