President Donald Trump has floated options to reduce those prices, including suspending the federal fuel tax. But he also has dismissed the economic impact of the war on Americans, saying that his priority is to prevent Iran from accessing nuclear weapons. 2)These deregulatory actions are reduce costs for producers and encourage higher domestic oil production, which supports higher inventories when production outpaces refinery throughput or exports.
Since returning to office in 2025, Trump has pursued a broad deregulatory agenda aimed at boosting fossil-fuel production...Together, these policies are part of Trump’s broader goal of “unleashing American energy” (i.e. DRILL baby DRILL) and expanding fossil-fuel output, which helps keep the supply side strong relative to demand.
