I am sorry for the losses. Each one is unique. Dog's have been man's best friend for a very long time.
Mom was a cat lady. Dad wanted to fly them and drop them from his RC airplanes.. It did get bad in the house...
I had a dogless childhood, few of the neighborhood kids had K9's.
My career with them started late around 1999 when my daughter let the neighbors dog baking in the super hot summers we were having at the time out of his kennel and bringing him home to us. Mrs Gave him Bacon, the neighbors allowed the theft to happen.
This one was particularly hard. The Gunny Pup was the most emotionally cognizant animal I have ever known. He had an older brother they were like 4 years old,and they got to running down by the main road. On a dark rainy fall evening, just after the DST change and 5'Dark Thirty, I had to retrieve his limp corpse from the side of the road.. I have never cried and felt more hopeless.. Pit Bulls are amazing if you treat them right.

I think like only one other President was petless. It is definite a trait of mushroom sized hoodwankers.
I would post pictures but am not allowed by the petty moderators.
Anyway.
Losing a pet that way is the worse. You tend to blame yourself. Don't. When I had to let Rupert go I was not right for a while.
There's a reason trump doesn't have pets. Animals can tell when someone isn't right. They know.
