To some, Israel is considered the Chosen People of God.
What is our status?  Are we not also the chosen people?

This misconception undermines Jesus and, within Christianity, it distorts the Christian faith. The current Netanyahu administration has motivated Christians to endorse acts of genocide. The very individuals whose forebears crucified Jesus are now utilizing him as a symbol for genocide.

Jews do not accept Jesus as their Messiah, yet they will assert to you, as a Christian, that the Messiah is Jewish. Indeed, but I respond, "your ancestors were responsible for his death."

Jesus has already paid my debt. As a Christian, I bear no debt to anyone, particularly not on ethical grounds.

What if the Jews hadn't killed Jesus and the human Son of God had died of old age? Would the New Covenant have been fulfilled?

This could be what Huckabee was referring to. I have no idea.

The Old Testament does not explicitly state that the Jewish people would kill the Messiah. Instead, the Jewish scriptures prophesied that the Messiah would suffer and be handed over to Gentiles (nations outside of Israel) to be put to death

The killing (crucifixion) of Christ marks the transition to the New Covenant. His death fulfilled the Old Covenant (the Mosaic law) and his shed blood served as the ultimate, atoning sacrifice that established the New Covenant between God and humanity.

The New Covenant: Instituted at the Last Supper and sealed by Jesus's death on the cross, this covenant is based on faith, grace, and the forgiveness of sins through Christ.
