Former Nashua lawmaker Stacie Marie Laughton gets 33 years for child sex abuse
Former state Rep. Stacie Marie Laughton, the first openly transgender person elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives, was sentenced Thursday to 33 years in prison after pleading guilty last year to child sex abuse charges.
Laughton, 41, born Barry Laughton, of Nashua, pleaded guilty Nov. 3 to three counts of sexual exploitation of children. Laughton was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Boston to 400 months behind bars — 220 months on counts 1 and 2 to be served concurrently, and 180 months on count 3 to be served consecutively with counts 1 and 2. Five years of supervised release on each count will follow and be served concurrently.
Laughton’s accomplice in the case and former romantic partner, Lindsay Groves, 40, of Hudson, was sentenced earlier this month to 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of sexual exploitation of children and distribution of child pornography
