Yeah, there's nothing FALSE about your argument. But it overlooks the fact that the more the appearance of impropriety is allowed to rub itself in our faces, the more debased our republic becomes. 

There was a time when conservatives cared about that. It wasn't that long ago,

Sure, I'll admit to being jaded by much of the shenanigans.
Mainly because very, very few ever get prosecuted and go to jail. 
I'm all for changing that. Who's going to do it? I have no idea.

It may very well be time for a convention of the Sates and address our shortcomings in the Republic.
