 Hitting CHINA would have been odd. Hitting Singapore? No. Not odd at all. More predictable than odd.

Singapore is a natural target for Iran. It's part of the bloc attacking Iran. It has no diplomatic mission in Iran, and it vigorously enforces the UN sanctions against Iran. When Iran initiated talks about conditions of transit, Singapore told Iran to **** off. Not a penny for tribute. So it knew when it sent its ship in that it might look very different when it came out. 

Singapore recently did a soft shoe recon about joining BRICS. It was immediately rebuffed by China, due to its deep ties to the US and the west. 

The US is sanctioning not just Russia, but countries that do business with Russia. 

Iran is attacking not just the US, but nations that play bitch to the US. Ride with outlaws, hang with outlaws.

Just to give you some background, Singapore has supported Coupkraine with materiel, money, and diplomatic efforts. Singapore has unilaterally sanctioned Russia. In every east vs. west kerfuffle, Singapore always bats for the west - for the people sending missiles into Iran.

Now you know who's who - and why Singapore is a perfect target for Iran's payback. Iran isn't trying to fight sea battles with the 6th fleet. It's fighting its own war - intelligently. And it is winning. And in a world where girls' schools and hospitals and civilian infratructure are legitimate targets, so is Singaporean shipping. 

And at least Iran has not, to anyone's knowledge, operated homosexual torture dungeons, like some countries do.
